Oral history

Thanks to e-Mediateka project many recordings will be available. Were chosen  interviews with people connected with Bialystok (among others: artists, athletes, enthusiasts, “ordinary” citizens of Bialystok, Esperantists) which show a diverse range of topics. They are located within broad framework of possible time, refer to  history of Bialystok and Podlasie, taking into account topics involving stories of people from Bialystok or Podlasie, but sometimes beyond the geographical area (e.g. bieżeństwo, deportations, Warsaw uprising, emigration). Moreover Mediateka CLZ as the only one in Poland multimedia library contains wide documentation Esperanto movement, and this part of the collection will be also presented in e-Mediateka. Users will have an opportunity to get to know with whole interviews or fragments, connected with chosen topics.

Zacharczuk Jerzy

Jerzy Zacharczuk was born in 1935 (age 79), in Białystok (Podlaskie Voivodeship). He graduated from the Factory of Tooling and Chucks Company`s Vocational School. In 1959 he began to work in the Factory of Tooling and Chucks as a turner. In 1962 he was dismissed from his job after a conflict with management. In 1971, he was re-employed on the position of turner. Later he worked as a grinder and plumber. From 1976 to 1987, he worked as a guides grinder in the Division of CT Precision Chucks, branch of the Factory of Tooling and Chucks, on Szosa Północno-Obwodowa street. He received a pension in 1987. Member of the organization: returning officer, a works council member, President of the Founding Committee of Solidarity, vice president of the factory trade union in the precision chucks division. Personal and family life : wife Zofia, son Leszek, daughter Katarzyna. Interests: historical movies, historical books.
