Oral history

Thanks to e-Mediateka project many recordings will be available. Were chosen  interviews with people connected with Bialystok (among others: artists, athletes, enthusiasts, “ordinary” citizens of Bialystok, Esperantists) which show a diverse range of topics. They are located within broad framework of possible time, refer to  history of Bialystok and Podlasie, taking into account topics involving stories of people from Bialystok or Podlasie, but sometimes beyond the geographical area (e.g. bieżeństwo, deportations, Warsaw uprising, emigration). Moreover Mediateka CLZ as the only one in Poland multimedia library contains wide documentation Esperanto movement, and this part of the collection will be also presented in e-Mediateka. Users will have an opportunity to get to know with whole interviews or fragments, connected with chosen topics.

Praga Jan Zygmunt

Jan Zygmunt Praga was born in 1933 (age 81), in Kocerany (Masovian Voivodeship ). He graduated from the Secondary Technical School of Mechanical Engineering No. 1 located at Śniadeckich 11 street in Warsaw. Due to three-year period of working order, he was directed to work in the Factory of Tooling and Chucks in Białystok, where he began to work in 1952. At first, he worked in the Structural Department. Later he was transferred to the position of an independent clerk for inventiveness and rationalization. From 1960 to 1980, he worked as a vocational training clerk; 1980-91as a labour matters specialist; 1986-91 as a human resources department manager. He retired in 1991. Member of the organization: Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society, Union of Socialist Youth, Polish United Workers` Party. Personal and family life : wife Barbara, daughters Barbara and Bożena, son Tomasz. Interests and hobbies: grandchildren, mushroom hunting, shotgun shooting, mountain tourism and stamp-collecting.
